Purnia, August 9: A shocking incident of domestic violence has emerged in Purnia, where a husband allegedly shot his wife, a teacher, following a dispute. The accused husband has reportedly fled the scene, and police are actively searching for him.
The incident took place on College Road in the Renu Nagar area. The victim has been identified as Shalini Kumari, who worked as a teacher at a Plus Two school in Srinagar. Her husband, Rajkumar Yadav, is said to be a manager at a cooperative bank in Madhubani.
According to local residents, a heated argument broke out between the couple on Sunday morning. During the altercation, Rajkumar allegedly shot Shalini. Neighbors rushed to the scene after hearing the gunshot, only to find Shalini lying on the ground, covered in blood. Despite their efforts to rush her to the hospital, she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Upon receiving the news, police from the Sadar station arrived at the scene and sealed off the area. They have taken the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem at Purnia Medical College and Hospital. Police officials stated that initial investigations suggest the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute. They are probing whether there were any other underlying reasons for the murder.
Meanwhile, after committing the crime, Rajkumar Yadav fled the scene. Police have initiated raids at potential hideouts to apprehend him. Evidence has been collected from the crime scene, and inquiries are being conducted with local residents.
The daylight murder of a teacher in the heart of the city has instilled fear among residents of Renu Nagar and surrounding areas. The victim’s family is in shock. Kumar Gauri Shankar, a relative of the deceased, expressed, “We are at a loss. We don’t understand what happened at home. Shalini was a wonderful person. The accused must receive the harshest punishment.”
In response to the incident, Rajesh Yadav, a representative of MP Pappu Yadav, condemned the act, stating, “This is a very unfortunate incident. The murder of a teacher in this manner is a shame for society. The police must apprehend the accused as soon as possible, and a fair investigation should be conducted.”
