Shocking Discovery: Young Woman Found Hanging in Godda, Allegations of Murder Surface

Godda, April 27: A tragic incident unfolded in Godda district, where the body of a 23-year-old woman was discovered hanging in her home in the Chhagaraha village under the Balbadda police jurisdiction. The deceased has been identified as Gudiya Kumari, originally from Achhari in Bhagalpur district, Bihar.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community. Gudiya’s mother, Yashoda Devi, has accused her in-laws of dowry harassment and murder. In her statement to the police, she claimed that a dowry of three lakh rupees was given at the time of marriage. Despite this, her son-in-law, Ranjit Das, allegedly continued to demand an additional 50,000 rupees and jewelry. Gudiya was reportedly subjected to harassment when these demands were not met.

Yashoda Devi directly accused her daughter’s in-laws of murder, alleging that Gudiya was hanged to make it appear as a suicide. However, Ranjit Das denied the murder allegations, asserting that it was a suicide. He stated that a minor dispute occurred between them on Monday morning before he left for work in Balbadda. Upon his return, he found Gudiya’s body hanging in their home.

Local police from Mehirma and Balbadda responded promptly to the incident. They took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem at the Sadar Hospital in Godda. Saurabh Kumar Thakur, the officer in charge of Mehirma police station, confirmed that the family has accused the in-laws of dowry harassment. The police are conducting a thorough investigation and will take legal action against the accused upon receiving a formal complaint.
