Mumbai, May 18: A shocking incident of theft occurred in Karanja, Washim district, where thieves broke the window of a car and stole 20 lakh rupees in cash. The entire event was captured on CCTV. The incident took place around 11:30 AM near Jhansi Rani Chowk on the Karanja bypass.
According to reports, businessman Chetan Heda from Manora had withdrawn 20 lakh rupees from Axis Bank. He parked his car in front of Radhakrishna Hotel and crossed the road to buy mangoes. Seizing the opportunity, unidentified thieves smashed the car window and fled with a bag full of cash in mere seconds.
This incident has caused a stir in the bustling area. The police have registered a case and launched an investigation, currently searching for the culprits based on the CCTV footage.
In a related note, a similar theft occurred recently in Delhi, where police arrested a couple targeting elderly passengers to steal their money. The suspects, identified as Suresh (25) and Rajni alias Anjali (22), had recently stolen one lakh rupees from an elderly passenger while traveling in an e-rickshaw.
According to the police, the victim had hired an e-rickshaw near Fun Cinema at Moti Nagar to reach his destination. He carried a small bag containing one lakh rupees. Upon reaching his destination, he realized that his bag was torn and the money was missing. He subsequently filed a complaint at the Kirti Nagar police station, prompting the police to initiate an investigation.
During the investigation, the e-rickshaw involved in the crime was recovered. The police have identified and arrested the suspects, who are now being interrogated to gather more information about the case. During questioning, the suspects admitted to specifically targeting elderly passengers for theft. The police also recovered 90 thousand rupees from them.
