Jamtara, February 22: In a shocking incident in Jamtara district of Jharkhand, a 40-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified assailants on Sunday morning. The incident occurred near the Dharmapur intersection, creating a climate of fear in the area.
According to police reports, the victim has been identified as Furkan Ansari, a resident of Dharmapur village. He was a driver and had gone to a local shop for breakfast around 9 AM, as he did every day. At that moment, three masked attackers arrived on an Apache motorcycle and opened fire on him indiscriminately.
Witnesses claim that the assailants shot him in the face. To instill further panic, they also fired shots into the air before fleeing the scene. Chaos erupted following the shooting, and with the help of villagers and family members, Furkan was rushed to Jamtara Sadar Hospital, where he was pronounced dead after examination by doctors.
Upon receiving the news, police from the Narayanpur station arrived at the scene and recovered three shell casings. The body has been taken into custody for post-mortem examination. A thorough investigation is underway in the surrounding areas to identify the attackers.
Following the incident, a crowd gathered at the hospital and in the village. Family members expressed deep anger over the murder and raised questions about the police’s response. Officials stated that the motives behind the murder are not yet clear, and various angles, including personal enmity, are being investigated.
