Alwar, February 8: A disturbing case of female foeticide has emerged in Alwar district, Rajasthan. On Sunday, police discovered the remains of an eight-month-old female fetus wrapped in plastic, sparking outrage among local residents. This incident has raised serious questions about social awareness and police response in the area.
The discovery occurred in the Govindgarh region, where a bundle wrapped in a salwar and plastic was found among bushes between the villages of Baroli and Niyana. Reports indicate that the bundle was first spotted on Thursday, but it was initially dismissed as garbage by passersby.
On Sunday morning, when the bundle was opened, villagers were horrified to find the fetus inside. According to local residents, they informed the police about the situation that morning. However, they alleged that the police arrived nearly an hour and a half later, during which time a large crowd had gathered at the scene.
Villagers claimed that the police attributed their delay to a shortage of staff at the station, which further fueled anger and frustration among the locals. Before the police arrived, community members took it upon themselves to protect the fetus from stray animals. They reportedly formed a protective circle around the remains to keep stray dogs away.
Additionally, villagers accused a police officer of making an insensitive remark regarding their urgency, allegedly suggesting they should bring a helicopter if they wanted a quicker response. This comment only intensified the community’s anger.
Upon arrival, police took possession of the fetus and sent it to the Govindgarh Community Health Center. Authorities also seized the salwar and other items wrapped around the fetus as part of their investigation.
Police officials indicated that a tag from a tailoring shop found on the salwar could provide a crucial lead in identifying those responsible for this heinous act. Investigators are currently examining evidence to trace the source of the clothing and understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The police have assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway, with efforts being made to identify those involved and take appropriate legal action.
