Shikha Goyal Appointed as New Home Secretary of Telangana

Hyderabad, April 24: The Telangana government has appointed IPS officer Shikha Goyal as the Principal Secretary of the Home Department. Goyal, a 1994 batch IPS officer, currently serves as the Director General of Vigilance and Enforcement and holds the additional charge as Principal Secretary of the General Administration Department.

According to a government order issued on Friday, she will also continue to oversee the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau and the Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory until further notice.

Following Goyal’s transfer to the Home Department, speculation has intensified regarding the appointment of CV Anand, the current Special Chief Secretary of the Home Department, as the new Director General of Police (DGP). Anand, a 1996 batch IPS officer, is expected to succeed DGP Shivdhar Reddy, who is set to retire on April 30.

Anand has previously served as the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) and has held the position of Police Commissioner of Hyderabad twice. He has also served as the Police Commissioner of Cyberabad.

The government has also transferred six other IPS officers. Additional Director General of Police (Personnel) Devendra Singh Chouhan has been appointed as the Director General of Vigilance and Enforcement and continues as Principal Secretary of the General Administration Department.

Tarun Joshi, the Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, will replace G. Sudhir Babu as the new Police Commissioner of Future City, who is retiring on April 30.

Avinash Mohanty, the Police Commissioner of Malkajgiri, has been transferred to serve as the Director General of Drug Control Administration and the Director of Prohibition and Excise. He will also take on the full charge of the Anti-Corruption Bureau until further notice.
