Mumbai, April 28: Singer Shibani Kashyap released her latest track, ‘Sirfira,’ on Tuesday. In an interview, she shared that the song is crafted specifically for Gen Z.
She stated, “Today’s youth have a distinct language and world. To connect with them, I had to incorporate their essence into my music. That’s why I chose the hip-hop genre this time, which I personally adore.”
Highlighting the song’s uniqueness, she mentioned that it features five prominent artists from Mumbai’s underground hip-hop scene. “Rappers like ‘Yedana,’ ‘Siroi,’ ‘Enix,’ and ‘Niji’ showcase their talent, while ‘Tash’ delivers impressive beatboxing. The music video was shot in an automobile workshop instead of a flashy location, giving it an authentic ‘underground’ and ‘crazy’ vibe.”
She clarified that this is not a romantic love track. Instead, it focuses on breaking boundaries, stepping out of comfort zones, and embracing new experiences. “Everyone has a ‘Sirfira’ within them, inspiring them to do something revolutionary beyond societal limits,” she explained.
The singer expressed gratitude towards Mika Singh for his support during the song’s launch. “I feel fortunate to have someone as wonderful as Mika Singh as my best friend. He has believed in me as an artist for a long time and has always stood by me.”
Reflecting on her career, she noted that she has consistently made bold and unconventional choices. “In ‘Sajna Aa Bhi Ja,’ I was the first in India to use autotune and coding effects, which garnered both criticism and praise.”
