Mumbai, May 13: Actor Shekhar Suman is returning to television with his unscripted late-night talk show, ‘Shekhar Tonight.’ This marks his first appearance on a talk show in 14 years.
In an exclusive interview, when the actor’s long hiatus was compared to ‘vanvas’ (exile), Shekhar remarked, “Every person’s inner ‘Ram’ leads them towards truth after their vanvas. This show is also created for that truth, where we speak fearlessly, question the system, and awaken a slumbering society.”
Shekhar further clarified that the show aims to be more than just entertainment; it will also serve as a platform for change. “I have been observing what is happening in society, the state of democracy, and the country at large. Many people should raise their voices against these issues, but raising your voice doesn’t mean resorting to insults. I am completely against that.”
He added, “I believe we can ask tough questions respectfully. I will represent the public and question those leaders and actors who have the power to change society.”
The show is produced by Shekhar Suman’s son, Adhyayan Suman. For Adhyayan, this show is not just a project but a passion.
He shared, “This is very personal for me. It feels like an era is returning, where artists and voices are redefining conversational entertainment in this country. For my entire generation, Shekhar Suman is a legend. People still remember his wit, brilliant monologues, and unique style of conversation. I have closely witnessed that magic since childhood, and it has always remained in my heart.”
