Mumbai, June 26: Film director Shekhar Kapur is currently in the spotlight for his upcoming film, “Masoom: The Next Generation.” Recently, he shared an emotional response to the iconic song “Lakdi Ki Kathi” from his 1983 blockbuster film “Masoom.”
Kapur posted a video on his X timeline featuring a young child peacefully asleep. As the song “Lakdi Ki Kathi” begins to play on the television, the child suddenly wakes up and joyfully starts dancing to the tune. The innocence displayed by the child caught Kapur’s attention.
In the comments section of the video, Shekhar Kapur wrote, “This is so sweet. When our team created the song ‘Lakdi Ki Kathi,’ no one imagined it would remain so popular among children and families for generations to come.”
The beloved song is from the 1983 film “Masoom,” which featured child actors Urmila Matondkar, Aardhana, and Jugal Hansraj. It was beautifully sung by Gauri Bapat, Gurpreet Kaur, and Vanita Mishra. Even today, the song is frequently heard at school cultural events and children’s performances.
Shekhar Kapur directed “Masoom,” which starred renowned actors such as Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Saeed Jaffrey, Tanuja, and Supriya Pathak. The film also showcased Urmila Matondkar, Aardhana, and Jugal Hansraj in pivotal child roles.
