Mumbai, March 5: Film director Shekhar Kapur has stirred up a storm on social media with a recent post that has gone viral. He shared an image featuring iconic Bollywood stars Dilip Kumar, Dharmendra, Dev Anand, and Rajesh Khanna, which has drawn significant criticism from users online.
The image, which Kapur posted as if it were genuine, is actually an AI-generated photo. In his caption, he wrote, “These were the biggest stars of their time, ruling the hearts of millions of Indians. Their friendship and humility are evident in this one picture.”
However, the post quickly attracted negative comments, with many users trolling Kapur for his apparent oversight. One user remarked, “This picture is fake. At least Shekhar Kapur should have recognized it.” Another added, “You are knowledgeable about AI; don’t be fooled by this AI-created image.”
Others questioned how a director like Kapur could fail to identify a fake image, stating, “You are a director, yet you mistook a fake photo for reality. Double-check your sources; the intention is good, but this is not true.”
As of now, Shekhar Kapur has not issued any clarification regarding the incident. Previously, he spoke at the AI Impact Summit about India’s growing role in the field. He emphasized the curiosity and eagerness of the younger generation towards AI, suggesting that this enthusiasm indicates India’s potential to establish a global presence in AI.
Kapur also mentioned that while developing AI, India should consider its unique circumstances and needs. Simply adopting Western models is not enough; technology must be tailored to fit local characteristics.
