Mumbai, March 6: International Women’s Day holds significant importance in honoring women’s achievements and raising awareness about gender equality. Despite ongoing societal pressures regarding beauty standards, actress Shefali Shah has delivered a powerful message encouraging women to embrace themselves fully.
On Friday, she took to Instagram to inspire women, particularly regarding aging, physical health issues, self-acceptance, self-love, and living without shame.
In a video shared on her official Instagram account, Shefali openly discussed the changes that come with aging, including shifts in body image and a new perspective on womanhood.
She stated, “As a child, being a woman meant something entirely different to me. I used to choose clothes that made me look good, but now I select outfits that make me feel good. I used to save certain clothes for when my body resembled a model’s. Now, there’s no room in my wardrobe for such expectations. Those clothes may fit someone else, and expectations should evolve too.”
She humorously addressed the changes that come with age, saying, “Now, my medication pouch is heavier than my makeup pouch. Libido sometimes feels as tangled as my lipid profile. Patience now seems as scarce as B12, D3, and calcium. I no longer enjoy formal conversations or pointless group discussions. It’s not that I have nothing to say; I just haven’t found a diaper that can handle long-winded talks.”
Shefali also mentioned that she can now joke about herself without hesitation and laugh openly. “Sometimes, I jokingly refer to gas or bloating as ‘happy pregnancy’ without the struggles of raising children,” she added.
Dividing her life into three phases, she remarked, “My life now feels divided into three parts: perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. But whether I’m in menopause or not, I’m still hot… and so are you.”
