New Delhi, May 12: Sharad Pawar, the president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to convene an all-party meeting in response to the Prime Minister’s recent economic appeal. He emphasized that the announcements made could have significant long-term effects on the nation’s economy.
Former Union Minister Sharad Pawar took to the social media platform X, stating, “Given the unstable and war-torn conditions in the Middle East, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made several announcements two days ago. These declarations could potentially have far-reaching impacts on the country’s economy. The sudden nature of these announcements has created an atmosphere of unease among the general public, businesses, and investors alike. This is undoubtedly a cause for concern.”
He appealed to PM Modi, highlighting the seriousness of the issue, and called for an all-party meeting under the Prime Minister’s leadership. Pawar stressed the importance of involving leaders from all parties in decision-making processes on national interest issues. In light of the current international situation, he urged the central government to prioritize sensitivity and broader consultations.
Pawar further stated, “Additionally, the Prime Minister should convene an immediate meeting with the country’s prominent economists, industry representatives, and relevant experts to conduct a thorough review of the situation. There should be extensive discussions on future policies. We firmly believe that building trust and stability among the populace should be the government’s top priority at this time.”
It is noteworthy that PM Modi, while addressing a public gathering at the Parade Ground in Secunderabad, appealed to citizens to reduce gold purchases over the next year to conserve foreign currency. He also suggested various measures to decrease fuel consumption, advocating for the use of metro and public transport wherever possible.
Moreover, the Prime Minister proposed reinstating effective measures adopted during the COVID-19 pandemic.
