Shane gave me very good platform in first IPL: Jadeja

Mohali, March 5 : “Shane Warne gave me a very good platform in the first IPL,” Ravindra Jadeja said. “He gave me a very good platform because I got a chance to play IPL directly after Under 19 contest,” he said in a virtual press conference after the end of second day of the first Test against Sri Lanka. He was replying to a query on Warne who passed away yesterday in a Thai restaurant. Jadeja had played under Warne’s captaincy in the inaugural IPL season. The Australian legend led Rajasthan Royals and helped the team to lift their first IPL trophy. It was a big thing for him to share the dressing room with Warne because he had just arrived to the game of cricket from the Under-19 format, Jadeja said. “When I met him for the first time in 2008, even then his name was so big. Then I felt I was not going to play with such a legend. It was a big thing for me to share the dressing room with him because I came to the game of cricket from Under-19 and found myself playing with him the next moment,” he said. Jadeja said it was absolutely shocking news and he felt bad after hearing the demise of Warne. “After hearing the news of his demise, I felt bad. And it didn’t seem like it was true. But, I pray to God to give his soul peace,” he said. BDN SHK2106
