Mumbai, May 8: The upcoming episode of Indian Idol promises to evoke nostalgia with a deeply emotional moment. The show will pay tribute to the legendary singer Mohammed Rafi and the late actor Shammi Kapoor through their iconic song “Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein.”
This special episode will also feature lyricist and poet Manoj Muntashir. It is dedicated to Asha Bhosle. During the show, Manoj shared an intriguing story related to the song. He revealed that initially, Shammi Kapoor was reluctant to film the song.
Manoj stated, “When this song was presented to Shammi Ji, he refused to shoot it. The film’s producer, Ramesh Sippy, was informed, causing quite a stir on set. Everyone thought that perhaps Shammi Ji did not like the song.”
However, Manoj later clarified the real reason. He explained, “The truth was different. Shammi Ji mentioned that he was not supposed to cry in that scene, but Shankar-Jaikishan had composed such an emotional song that he feared he wouldn’t be able to hold back his tears during the shoot. He said, ‘I know myself… please change this song.’”
Manoj Muntashir further revealed that Shammi Kapoor himself admitted in an interview that it was incredibly difficult for him to hold back tears while shooting this song. Only his heart could understand that emotion.
Recently, Manoj Muntashir praised the streaming web series “Chiraiya” on Jio Hotstar. He emphasized that art and literature have a responsibility towards society, and this series meets that standard.
