Mumbai, May 6: Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC stated on Wednesday that Mamata Banerjee should accept the mandate and resign. She defended the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar regarding issues of fair elections and voter lists in West Bengal.
Commenting on Banerjee’s refusal to resign, Shaina NC said, “For 15 years, the people of West Bengal gave Mamata Banerjee a chance. When they decided they wanted change due to significant issues like women’s safety, law and order, infiltration, and corruption, Mamata Banerjee should have acknowledged this. Ninety-two percent of the population voted for change in Bengal. She failed to understand this and kept making excuses. However, this is a constitutional provision. Mamata Banerjee must resign.”
Addressing Banerjee’s allegations against the Election Commission, Shaina NC remarked, “The Election Commission has outrightly rejected all baseless claims. The opposition raised allegations of irregularities. VVPAT matching was conducted, proving that there were no discrepancies in 25,000 locations.”
She further added, “People have been spreading false stories regarding the SIR. The SIR was merely a process to remove names of deceased individuals or those who had changed residences. The reality is that the SIR was an effort to clean up the electoral list. The truth is that the public wanted change, and now they are blaming the Election Commission for it.”
Regarding the new Chief Minister for West Bengal, the Shiv Sena leader stated, “On May 9, Bengal will have a new Chief Minister who will improve law and order and ensure women’s safety. Additionally, they will take action against corruption.”
