Kanpur, February 13: BJP leader Shah Nawaz Hussain has responded sharply to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi‘s statements in the Lok Sabha. He accused Gandhi of becoming a burden on Parliament, violating decorum, and pursuing a foreign agenda. Hussain claimed that Gandhi consistently attempts to tarnish the country’s reputation.
In a conversation in Kanpur, Hussain stated that Gandhi questions the valor of the Indian Army. He asserted that Gandhi will not speak in favor of the nation, as he has sworn to do otherwise. Instead, he echoes sentiments favored by India’s adversaries. Hussain criticized Gandhi for inciting female MPs against the Prime Minister and disregarding the Speaker’s authority.
The language Gandhi uses in Parliament, according to Hussain, does not align with the dignity expected of the Leader of the Opposition. While democracy allows for criticism, engaging in politics of accusation and using provocative language is not a healthy tradition. Statements like “the country has been sold” are not only politically irresponsible but also attempt to undermine the nation’s institutions and democratic framework.
Hussain emphasized that opposing government policies is one thing, but damaging the country’s image and creating confusion internationally is unacceptable. He noted that Parliament should be a platform for debate and discussion, not a place for sensationalism. Previous opposition leaders have voiced strong dissent but maintained a level of decorum, prioritizing national interest.
While criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a democratic right, Hussain lamented that using opposition as a cover to put the country in a negative light is unfortunate. He urged Gandhi to engage in self-reflection and adopt a more constructive and responsible role as an opposition leader.
Regarding the ongoing protests over the singing of “Vande Mataram,” Hussain expressed support for the anthem, questioning why anyone would have an issue with praising Mother India.
Hussain also took a jab at the opposition in light of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s statements, asserting that when Congress was in power, they never missed an opportunity to sell the country. He labeled Gandhi as a “machine for making accusations” in Parliament, claiming he is breaking parliamentary decorum and failing to fulfill the opposition’s role effectively.
On the India-Pakistan cricket match, Hussain remarked that Pakistan was being difficult, but they would face defeat on the field.
He congratulated the Yogi government on the UP budget, praising it for its positive impact, including the establishment of large factories and job opportunities for youth, highlighting the rule of law.
Hussain criticized Akhilesh Yadav for lacking issues, suggesting that wearing a red cap does not enhance understanding. He predicted a significant defeat for Yadav in the 2027 assembly elections, despite some success in the Lok Sabha.
