Dhanbad, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : Authorities in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, are investigating the discovery of a severed female body in a forested area of the Baliyapur police station jurisdiction. The shocking find, made on Friday, has stirred local fears of a potential ritual sacrifice, especially after incense sticks and other religious items were found at the scene.
The head and torso of the unidentified woman were located at different spots within the forest. Local resident Kishore Kumar Mahato stumbled upon the woman’s feet while he was out for a walk. Alarmed, he alerted nearby villagers, who subsequently rushed to the location and confirmed the grim discovery.
Police arrived shortly after being notified by the villagers and began examining the area. They recovered the woman’s head, which was found in a plastic bag, while the torso was located elsewhere in the woods. The presence of incense and other worship materials led many locals to speculate about the possibility of the woman’s death being linked to a ritualistic killing.
However, police officials have urged caution, stating it is too early to draw any conclusions about the motive behind the murder. Assistant Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar estimated the victim to be between 25 and 30 years old, but her identity remains unknown.
Authorities are actively interviewing residents in nearby villages to help identify the deceased. The body has been sent for an autopsy, and further actions will be determined based on the findings of the post-mortem report and ongoing investigations.
