Mumbai, April 6 : The BSE Sensex on Wednesday further lost 566.09 pts to close at 59,610.41 on heavy selling in IT, Technology, Bsnkex and Finance stocks. The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too slipped 149.75 pts to close at 17,807.65. The session started on a weak note, as the Sensex fell by 361 pts to open at 59,815.71. It slumped nearly 667 pts to close at 59,509.84, the day’s low before closing at 59,610.41, sliding 566.09 pts from its previous close. The Sensex registered the day’s high and low at 59,941.57 and 59,509.84 pts respectively. The Nifty recorded the day’s high and low at 17,901 and 17,779.85 respectively. The sectoral indices like IT, Technology, Bsnkex and Finance dragged the market further. In scrips, HDFC Bank was a major loser, it dipped by 3.51 pc to Rs 1550.80 followed by HDFC by 3.26 pc to Rs 2536.50, HCL Technology by 2.07 pc to Rs 1170.80, Tech Mahindra by 1.97 pc to Rs 1459.60 and Infosys by 1.75 pc to Rs 1828.45. The gainers were NTPC by 2.61 pc to Rs 153.05, Tata Steel by 1.94 pc to Rs 1371, Powergrid by 1.52 pc to Rs 236.60 and Bharti Airtel by 1.17 pc to Rs 775.20. The Mid Cap rose by 0.12 pc and Small Cap by 0.21 pc. In 30 scrips, eight advanced while 22 declined. European market fell today against a backdrop of hawkish comments from US Federal Reserve officials and further sanctions against Russia. As pan-European Stoxx 600 slipped 0.3 per cent with autos eased 0.9 per cent. On Wall Street, Nasdaq Futures dipped 1 per cent while Dow Jones and S&P500 futures slipped 0.5 per cent each. Asian Market too fell as Japan’s Nikkei dropped 1.6 per cent, South Korea’s Kospi slipped 0.88 per cent, and China’s CSI300 fell 0.3 per cent. NV RKM
