Dantewada, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : Security forces have uncovered a large stockpile of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from a Maoist hideout in Dantewada, Chhattisgarh. This operation was conducted based on reliable intelligence received from surrendered Maoists and was overseen by senior police officials.

On Monday, a joint team comprising District Force, District Reserve Guard (DRG), Bastar Fighters, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched an extensive search operation in the dense forests and hilly areas under the jurisdiction of Barsur police station. Targeted villages included Manganar, Burdum, Todma, and Kohkaweda.

The operation involved key officials such as Badri Narayan Meena, Inspector General of Police for Bastar Range, Deputy Inspector General of CRPF Dantewada, Superintendent of Police Chandra Mohan Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Khute, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Nasar Ullah Siddiqui.

Around 6:30 AM on Tuesday, while searching between Kohkaweda and Burdum villages, the teams discovered a well-concealed dump used by Maoists. A thorough search of the area yielded a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition.

The recovered items included an AK-47 rifle, an INSAS rifle, a BGL launcher, a .315 bore rifle, six country-made guns, nine BGL shells, 23 AK-47 cartridges with a magazine, five BGL rounds, two tiffin bombs, eight cooker bombs, 24 pistol rod springs, approximately 20 meters of cordtex wire, two pairs of Maoist uniforms, an INSAS magazine, an inverter, 138 rounds of .315 bore ammunition, 20 walkie-talkie sets, two arrow bombs, about 20 meters of red-black wire, a multimeter, and two car inverters.

Officials stated that continuous dominance in the area and ongoing search operations under the anti-Maoist campaign made this recovery possible. The seized items have been confiscated in accordance with regulations, and further investigations are ongoing.

Dantewada police reiterated their commitment to conducting such operations consistently. The police force is dedicated to uncovering hidden weapons, ammunition, and explosives in the dense forests and difficult terrains to foster an environment conducive to peace, security, and development in the region.

This successful operation highlights the collaborative efforts of state and central forces to weaken the logistical networks of active Maoist groups in the Bastar region.
