
New Delhi, March 6: The second edition of the ‘Fit India’ Carnival will commence this Sunday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The event is set to launch on International Women’s Day 2026, celebrating health, sports, and community spirit in the capital.
Running from March 8 to March 10, the carnival will officially open following the 64th edition of ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle’ at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium. This year’s focus will be on female athletes, influencers, and fitness champions.
The formal inauguration will be attended by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of Sports Hari Ranjan Rao, and several distinguished guests. Notable personalities, including actor and model Milind Soman, actress Ragini Dwivedi, Aishwarya Raj, and Tarun Khanna, will participate on the first day. They are known for their roles in the TV series ‘Devo Ke Dev Mahadev.’ Mental health expert and coach Dr. Riri Trivedi, along with various fitness experts, athletes, and wellness specialists, will also be present.
Athletes such as heptathlete and Asian Games bronze medalist Nandini Agasra, judoka Garima Chaudhary, chess grandmaster and Fit India champion Tania Sachdev, para-athlete Simran, and fencing athlete Taniksha Khatri will inspire youth with their remarkable journeys in sports.
This carnival will be fully accessible for individuals with mobility challenges, including senior citizens and people with disabilities. The exciting event will feature cultural performances, flash mobs, and positive dialogue sessions where athletes and fitness leaders will share insights on health, discipline, and mental well-being. Attendees can explore various game zones, fitness stations, and activity stalls designed to make exercise engaging and accessible for all ages.
Students from schools and colleges, athletes, youth, employees from various sectors, and women of all backgrounds will participate in this thrilling event, which will also include a dedicated children’s area. Each day will feature exciting musical activities from renowned music bands, encouraging families, communities, and especially youth to engage in at least half an hour of exercise daily. Launched on August 29, 2019, the Fit India Movement aims to transform people’s behaviors and promote a physically active lifestyle among citizens.
