Scotland Announces Womens T20 World Cup Squad, Former England Spinner Kristy Gordon Included

Glasgow, May 11: Scotland has announced its 15-member squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, featuring left-arm spinner Kristy Gordon. The tournament will take place in England, where Scotland is placed in Group B alongside the host nation, Ireland, West Indies, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka. Scotland’s campaign kicks off on June 13 against Ireland at Old Trafford.

Kristy Gordon made her debut for Scotland at just 14 years old in 2012 and played for the national team until 2017. She represented England in the 2018 T20 World Cup but did not play for the team after 2019. Her return to the Scotland team was confirmed last December.

Scotland secured its spot in the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup through the Global Qualifier. Despite a loss to Bangladesh, Scotland achieved crucial victories against Ireland and the USA in the Super Six stage. Finishing third in the qualifiers was sufficient for them to qualify for the main tournament.

Captain Kathryn Bryce will lead the Scottish team, which includes three members from the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 squad: seam bowler Gabriella Fontenla, wicketkeeper-batter Pippa Sproule, and uncapped fast bowler Macy Messera.

Before heading to England for the Women’s T20 World Cup, Scotland will participate in a home tri-series against Bangladesh and the Netherlands in Edinburgh.

The Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will commence on June 12, with semi-final matches scheduled for June 30 and July 2. The final will take place on July 5 at the historic Lord’s ground.

Scotland’s Women’s T20 World Cup Squad: Kathryn Bryce (Captain), Chloe Abel, Olivia Bell, Sarah Bryce, Darcy Carter, Priyanaz Chatterjee, Gabriella Fontenla, Kathryn Fraser, Kristy Gordon, Ailsa Lister, Macy Messera, Abtaha Maqsood, Megan McColl, Rachel Slater, and Pippa Sproule.
