Schools Closed in Jaipur, Chittorgarh, and Karauli Due to Severe Cold Weather

Jaipur, January 15 : Owing to the impact of a western disturbance, the weather across Rajasthan has taken a sharp turn. Several districts witnessed rainfall on Wednesday, leading to a significant drop in temperature and an increase in cold wave conditions. Considering the harsh weather, district administrations in Jaipur, Chittorgarh, and Karauli have declared holidays for schools.

Holiday Announcement in Jaipur

In Jaipur, the district administration, led by Collector Jitendra Kumar Soni, has declared a holiday on January 16 for students from Class 1 to Class 8 due to the prevailing cold wave and chilly winds. For students in Classes 9 to 12, schools will remain open, but their timing has been revised to 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

School Closures in Chittorgarh

In Chittorgarh, due to ongoing rainfall and cold wave conditions, District Collector Alok Ranjan has announced holidays for students up to Class 8 in all government and private schools on January 16 and 17. Additionally, he has warned that any school found violating the directive will face action under the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

Holiday for Students in Karauli

Similarly, in Karauli, severe cold weather has prompted the district administration to declare a holiday on January 16 for students from nursery to Class 8. However, school and anganwadi staff are expected to report for duty as usual. For students from Classes 9 to 12, schools will open after 10:00 AM, as per the revised schedule issued by the district administration.

Dense Fog and Rain Forecast

The Meteorological Department has issued a dense fog alert for the next two days. As per the departmentโ€™s forecast, Chittorgarh is likely to experience very dense fog on Thursday and dense fog on Friday. In Karauli, light rain is expected on Thursday, followed by dense fog on Friday.

The administration has urged citizens to take precautions during this period, especially while traveling early in the morning or late at night when visibility is expected to be severely affected by fog.
