
New Delhi, February 27: In today’s fast-paced world, many people fall victim to obesity due to irregular eating habits and a lack of physical activity. This can lead to various health issues. According to the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, adopting a regular lifestyle along with yoga can be highly effective in preventing physical problems. One such yoga pose is called ‘Kati Chakrasana.’
This pose helps control weight and combats various health issues. Kati Chakrasana, a twisting posture, aids in reducing belly fat, improving digestion, and burning excess calories. Practicing this pose for just 5-10 minutes daily keeps the waist flexible and makes weight management easier. However, it is essential to combine this practice with a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
The Ministry of AYUSH has highlighted its significance. They state that this twisting pose alleviates stiffness in the spine, neck, and shoulders when practiced regularly. Additionally, it strengthens the back, reduces waist fat, and activates abdominal organs like the kidneys.
Performing Kati Chakrasana is quite simple. Stand straight and, while inhaling, raise both arms in front of you with palms facing each other. As you exhale, slowly twist your waist to the left. Place your right hand on your left shoulder and try to bring your left hand around your back to your right waist. Turn your neck to the left and look back. Hold this position for a few seconds while breathing normally.
Inhale as you return to the front and repeat the process on the right side.
Yoga experts suggest that waking up early to practice yoga and engage in light activities can help reduce obesity and prevent various diseases. However, pregnant women, individuals with serious illnesses, or those who have undergone surgery should avoid this practice.
