Mumbai, June 13: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has asserted that Mamata Banerjee cannot lose an election in West Bengal. He raised concerns about her defeat in Bhawanipur, suggesting that it raises numerous questions. Raut believes there may have been foul play involved.
During a press conference on Saturday, Raut highlighted the incident where 4,000 electronic voting machines (EVMs) were reportedly destroyed in a fire. He stated that this incident raises serious questions about the administration’s role. According to sources, these EVMs were already under suspicion, and their destruction has only intensified the inquiries surrounding the election.
Raut questioned the positions of the Supreme Court and the Election Commission in this serious matter. He emphasized the need for all parties involved to clarify the situation and explain why the EVMs were destroyed. Notably, these machines were used in the recently concluded assembly elections, and their sudden destruction raises significant concerns.
Furthermore, Raut reflected on the legacy of prominent figures in Indian history, such as Jawaharlal Nehru, B.R. Ambedkar, and Indira Gandhi. He expressed disappointment when comparing their leadership styles to that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
When asked about comparisons between Modi and Nehru, Raut remarked that historical figures like Jahangir ruled for extended periods. He stressed that while some may draw parallels between Modi and Nehru, the latter’s 16-year tenure was marked by global respect and influence, a standard that he believes Modi has yet to achieve.
