New Delhi: Every year, the Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path highlights India’s cultural diversity, history, and creative strength through vibrant tableaux. This year, the special honour given to Indian cinema has become a focal point of discussion. Renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali will present a tableau based on Indian cinema, a move that has earned appreciation from the film industry.
The Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) expressed its gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a letter, stating, “The Indian film industry feels proud that a distinguished director like Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been given the opportunity to represent Indian cinema in the Republic Day parade. He will present a unique tableau inspired by evergreen films on Kartavya Path.”
Addressing Bhansali as a showman and master craftsman of Indian cinema, IFTDA praised his films for their grandeur, storytelling style, and character depth, which have become hallmarks of Indian cinema. The association added, “Showcasing a tableau inspired by his films on such a national platform is a matter of pride for the entire country.”
Further, IFTDA noted that the tableau will be memorable for spectators, enhancing their entertainment while also inspiring energy and enthusiasm among participants. The presentation of Indian cinema in the parade will strengthen the country’s cultural influence.
The association also thanked the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) for their support, stating, “Such cultural presentations would not be possible without the cooperation and initiatives of these institutions. This step reflects the government’s recognition of Indian cinema not just as entertainment but as a cultural heritage.”
IFTDA appreciated Prime Minister Modi’s visionary leadership, saying, “Thanks to the Prime Minister’s foresight, the legacy of the Indian film industry is gaining respect at both national and international levels. The film fraternity is grateful for this initiative, which will be remembered as a significant moment in the history of Indian cinema.”
Concluding the letter, IFTDA thanked the Prime Minister once again, stating, “Granting this place to Indian cinema on the historic occasion of Republic Day is a mark of honour for the film industry. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s tableau will not only showcase the art and beauty of Indian films but also serve as an inspiration for future generations.”
