New Delhi, May 12: The ongoing family dispute over the estate of the late businessman Sanjay Kapoor has once again gained attention. Rani Kapoor, his mother, has filed a new petition in the Supreme Court. She seeks to prevent Sanjay Kapoor’s third wife, Priya Sachdev Kapoor, and other related parties from interfering in the operations of the ‘RK Family Trust.’
In her petition, Rani Kapoor stated that no significant decisions or changes regarding the trust should occur until the mediation process initiated by the court is completed.
Additionally, Rani Kapoor has opposed a notice issued by Raghuvanshi Investment Private Limited on May 8, requesting a halt to the board meeting scheduled for May 18. This company reportedly holds a significant portion of the disputed family estate.
Rani Kapoor argues that the purpose of this meeting is to appoint additional directors to the board, which could escalate the existing dispute and affect control over the estate.
The Supreme Court bench, led by Justice J.B. Pardiwala, has scheduled a hearing for this petition on May 14.
Since Sanjay Kapoor’s passing, the family has seen increasing disputes over the control of the estate and trust. Rani Kapoor alleges that following her son’s death, control over the trust and company has gradually shifted, effectively sidelining her from the estate.
She claims that the documents related to the ‘RK Family Trust’ were prepared without her knowledge or consent. Rani Kapoor accuses the trust and companies of lacking transparency in their decisions and disregarding her role.
Another significant aspect of this case involves actress Karisma Kapoor’s children, who have also challenged Sanjay Kapoor’s alleged will, asserting their rights to the property.
