
Mumbai, April 25: Actor Sanjay Dutt is making a comeback in his iconic villainous role. The character ‘Ballu Balram’ from the 1993 blockbuster film ‘Khalnayak’ is set to return to the big screen in a new avatar. Following the film’s announcement, renowned filmmaker Subhash Ghai expressed his excitement by sharing a poster of Dutt’s character.
Ghai, representing Mukta Arts Limited, stated, “We are all thrilled to see our beloved Sanju back with ‘Khalnayak Returns.’ A stunning teaser was shown to the media on Friday, which received widespread acclaim.”
He further emphasized that reprising a character as iconic as Ballu Balram is a significant challenge for Dutt. Ghai is confident that Dutt will once again impress audiences with his performance. He extended his best wishes to Dutt and the entire team.
On Friday, Dutt officially announced ‘Khalnayak Returns.’ This film is said to be a new version of the original ‘Khalnayak’ from 1993, where Dutt played the titular villain, a role that garnered immense popularity. The character of Ballu Balram remains fresh in the audience’s memory. The original ‘Khalnayak’ became a cult classic, featuring prominent actors like Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff. The film’s songs and dialogues continue to resonate with fans today.
During an event in Mumbai, Dutt revealed that his company, Three Dimension Motion Pictures, along with Aksha Kamboj’s Aspect Entertainment, has acquired the rights for the sequel from Subhash Ghai’s Mukta Arts.
The event also saw the release of a brief teaser for ‘Khalnayak Returns,’ showcasing Dutt in a powerful new rendition of his famous character.
Expressing gratitude to Ghai, Dutt remarked, “The journey of Khalnayak has been long. It wouldn’t have been possible without Subhash Ji. He is a legend and the undisputed king of the entertainment world. He will also be a part of this new film.”
