Mumbai, April 8: In a shocking incident, a forest guard was killed by the sand mafia in Morena district, Madhya Pradesh. The police are actively searching for the accused.
Additional Superintendent of Police Surendra Pal Singh informed reporters that a team from the forest department was stationed at an intersection in the Dimni police station area on Wednesday morning. When they attempted to stop a tractor loaded with illegal sand, the driver ran over forest guard Harkesh Gurjar, resulting in his death. The police have registered a case and initiated a search for both the tractor and its driver. The deceased is undergoing a post-mortem examination.
Morena district is notorious for illegal mining activities. This is not the first incident where a government employee has lost their life; previously, Indian Police Service officer Narendra Kumar also fell victim to these sand mafias. Additionally, a deputy ranger has been targeted by the mafia as well.
Opposition leader Umang Singhar criticized the government following the incident. He stated that law and order in Madhya Pradesh is completely deteriorated, and criminals are emboldened. The murder of forest guard Harkesh Gurjar by the sand mafia not only highlights the terrifying situation but also indicates that criminals have lost their fear of the law in the state.
He further remarked that this incident reflects the declining law and order situation and the poor governance of the BJP government. The opposition leader has demanded that the Chief Minister take immediate notice of the situation and ensure the swift arrest of the culprits, followed by strict action.
