Jaipur, April 7: Bollywood actor Salman Khan has received significant relief from the Rajasthan High Court in the pan masala advertisement case. The court has stayed the bail warrant issued against him by the Jaipur District Consumer Commission-II.
The order was given after a hearing by Justice Anoop Singh’s bench on the petition filed by Salman Khan and others.
Following this ruling, Salman Khan is no longer required to appear before the Consumer Commission on April 13. This date was previously set as the final opportunity for him to appear, and failure to do so could have led to an arrest warrant being issued against him.
The case stems from a complaint filed by Yogendra Singh Badiyal. The complainant accused Rajshree Pan Masala and its brand ambassador, Salman Khan, of running misleading advertisements. These products were promoted as ‘saffron-flavored cardamom’ and ‘saffron pan masala.’
On January 6, 2026, the Consumer Commission imposed a temporary ban on the advertisements for these products. However, on January 9, hoardings were still visible in several cities, including Jaipur and Kota, which the commission deemed a violation of its order.
The commission remarked that being a celebrity does not exempt one from the law. It also stated that repeated non-appearances despite the issuance of warrants undermine public trust in the justice system.
The commission had issued bail warrants against Salman Khan four times, but they were not executed. During the recent hearing, the commission expressed its displeasure and warned of strict action. It reiterated that celebrity status does not place anyone above the law.
Senior advocates R.P. Singh, G.S. Bafna, Divesh Sharma, Varun Singh, and Shivangshu Nawal represented Salman Khan in court.
