Sachin Tendulkars Historic Day: Celebrating 100 International Centuries

New Delhi, March 16: Former Indian cricket team captain Sachin Tendulkar is regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in cricket history. His exceptional batting skills have added excitement to the game and set new benchmarks, along with numerous world records.

March 16 is a significant date for both Sachin and the cricketing world. On this day in 2012, Sachin achieved a milestone that had never been accomplished in cricket before, and the likelihood of it being surpassed in the future remains extremely low.

On March 16, 2012, a One Day International match was held between India and Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur. After losing the toss, India batted first and scored 289 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Opening the innings, Sachin Tendulkar played a remarkable knock of 114 runs off 147 balls. This was his 100th international century, making him the only batsman in cricket history to reach this landmark. Before Sachin, few could have imagined that a batsman could score 100 centuries, but the Master Blaster made the impossible possible. This also marked his last international century.

From 1989 to 2013, Sachin Tendulkar was a cornerstone of Indian batting. He holds records for the most international matches, the most centuries, the most One Day Internationals (ODIs) and runs, as well as the most Test matches and runs. He was also the first to score a double century in ODIs.

In 329 innings of 200 ODIs, Sachin scored 51 centuries, amassing 15,921 runs. Across 463 ODIs, he achieved 49 centuries and 96 half-centuries, totaling 18,426 runs, with an unbeaten high score of 200. Breaking the record for the most runs in ODIs seems quite challenging. Sachin also played one T20 match, scoring 10 runs.

As a member of the 2011 World Cup-winning Indian team, Sachin bid farewell to international cricket on November 16, 2013. Although he has retired, his records will forever keep him relevant in the world of cricket.
