Ryots’ deaths echo in Chhattisgarh House

Raipur, Mar 15 : The Chhattisgarh Assembly on Tuesday witnessed the principal-opposition BJP alleging that two peasants died during an ongoing agitation by cultivators in the state’s new capital Naya Raipur. Raising the matter during the Zero Hour, Mr Shivratan Sharma (BJP) said, “The first fatality occurred on Friday and the second one on Monday when a tiller was en route to the venue of the unrest. Ex gratia of Rs 1 crore each should be provided to the next of kin and government employment to one member each of the affected families.” Continuing the attack on the Treasury Benches, Mr Ajay Chandrakar (BJP) said, “Growers are dying. Why is the so-called ‘farmer leader’ Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel maintaining silence?” Mr Narayan Chandel (BJP) also placed the dispensation in the dock. In the words of Mr Brijmohan Agrawal (BJP), “Chhattisgarh has never seen any other stir progressing for 70 long days. The regime should initiate a dialogue and accede to demands.” AS-AC
