Cairo, March 6 ( /Sputnik) A Ural Airlines plane with Russian tourists on board was unable to leave the Egyptian resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh, sources tell Sputnik. The U6 1886 Ural Airlines flight to Moscow was supposed to depart Sharm el-Sheikh on Saturday, one source familiar with the situation said. The Russian aircraft was to fly over Cyprus, en route to Moscow’s Domodedovo airport. “The lessor has applied to the Egyptian aviation authorities to stop this aircraft and Eurocontrol [European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation] is not issuing permission to overfly their area for them to return,” the source said. Earlier on Saturday, two other Ural Airlines aircraft successfully brought passengers back to Russia from Egypt, flying over Cyprus, the source said. Another source told Sputnik that Russian tourists who were supposed to fly back home on the cancelled U6 1886 Ural Airlines flight to Moscow were returned to their hotels in Egypt. Ural Airlines has suspended flights to Egypt from March 14 until May 20, but the airline is currently working on bringing Russian tourists back home from Egypt. /SPUTNIK RNJ
