Rolling Stones embark on European tour ‘Sixty’

New Delhi, March 15 : One of the oldest and longest lived rock bands of all time, the Rolling Stones are still kicking, and seems they are in no hurry to retire any time soon. The British band was formed in 1962 and is considered one of the pioneering forces in the era of rock’n roll with their mix of early blues, pop, rock, dance, R&B, psychedelia and hard rock thus assimilating a variety of styles into their musical pallet. Formed by vocalist Mick Jagger, multi instrumentalist Brian Jones, guitarist Keith Richards, bassist Bill Wyman and drummer Charlie Watts, the legendary group announced a European tour, titled “Sixty”. It will hit various cities, including Madrid, M ch, London, Amsterdam, Bern, Milan, Brussels,Vienna, Paris, and Stockholm in celebration of the band’s sixty years of rocking. The set list shall include “Gimme Shelter’,” “Paint It Black,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Tumbling Dice” “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “Start Me Up” and various other iconic rock tracks. Frontman Mick Jagger, 78, and guitarists Keith Richards, 78, and Ronnie Wood, 74, will be joined by drummer Steve Jordan for the tour. The Stones’ drummer Charlie Watts, who joined the band in 1963, died last year aged 80. The Tour will also see Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood make their long-awaited return to the UK, performing at the home of Liverpool FC – Anfield, for the Stones’ first in Liverpool show for over 50 years, followed by two shows in London’s Hyde Park for British Summer Time Festival. “Looking forward to seeing you all this summer!” Jagger wrote on Twitter, alongside a video of the band performing live across the decades. “Sorry to keep you all hanging around, but the waiting is over,” said Keith Richards of the news. “I’ve always said the best place for rock and roll is on being on stage with the Stones and this year is very special. Looking forward to rehearsing with Mick and Ronnie and some friends, the wheels are in motion. See you all very soon.” Ronnie Wood said: “When I look out at the sea of people when we play in Europe all I can see is smiles.
