Mumbai, February 18: In the shooting incident at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Juhu, 12 suspects have been arrested so far. Last Monday, six individuals were apprehended and have been remanded until February 25. During interrogations by the Mumbai Crime Branch, the accused have made several shocking revelations.
According to the Crime Branch, Vishnu Kushwaha, arrested from Uttar Pradesh, was the mastermind behind recruiting all the suspects, luring them with substantial financial incentives.
Investigations reveal that Shubham Lonkar, the main orchestrator of the shooting, collaborated with Vishnu Kushwaha to execute the plan. Vishnu brainwashed shooters Deepak Sharma, Sunny Kumar, and Sonu Kumar, among others. Reports indicate that he enticed them with grand narratives of Hindutva and promises of large sums of money. The Crime Branch suspects that prior to the shooting, Deepak Sharma received training in handling firearms, although the specifics of this training location are still under investigation by both the Crime Branch and the UP STF.
Further findings indicate that Shubham Lonkar sent money to Vishnu, who in turn promised substantial payments to the other suspects after the job was completed. Vishnu Kushwaha has been in contact with the Bishnoi gang for several years, working on their behalf in the state. The Crime Branch reports that the Bishnoi gang targets young, unemployed individuals, enticing them with the promise of easy money. Vishnu selected six suspects from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, who were already influenced by the Bishnoi gang and had posted videos on social media showcasing firearms.
Vishnu Kushwaha sold the dream of quick wealth to shooters Deepak and others, leveraging the image of Lawrence Bishnoi to entice them into joining the gang.
Crime Branch officials stated that all seven suspects arrested from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh were aware of their target. After the shooting at Rohit Shetty’s home, shooters and their two accomplices reached Agra and then Noida, where their associates Jatin and Vishal were also aware of their involvement in the shooting. During the incident, all suspects had their phones turned off, which delayed the police’s ability to trace their location.
