Pune, April 6: In the upcoming by-election for the Baramati Assembly constituency in Maharashtra, MLA Rohit Pawar has expressed his support for Sunetra Pawar. As Sunetra prepares to file her nomination papers, Rohit has urged all political parties and potential candidates to ensure that the election is uncontested.
Rohit Pawar stated, “It is our collective wish for this election to be uncontested. Therefore, we kindly request other candidates and their parties to cooperate in making this happen. We believe they will understand and accept our appeal.”
He emphasized that the Sharad Pawar faction is united in supporting Sunetra Pawar in the by-election and hopes for a politically consensual election process.
However, Rohit also made it clear that if the election cannot be uncontested, he assumes that Ajit Pawar will be participating in the race. He urged the voters of Baramati to ensure Sunetra Pawar wins by a record margin.
He remarked, “Your single vote will be a true tribute to Ajit Dada.”
The Congress party has already announced its candidate for the Baramati by-election. Advocate Akash Vijayrao More has been given the ticket, as confirmed by Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal. Akash More serves as the Secretary of Maharashtra Congress, and his father, Vijayrao More, has previously been a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council.
Notably, the Baramati Assembly seat in Pune district is considered a stronghold of the Pawar family. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Sharad Pawar, has already made it clear that they will not field a candidate against the family’s daughter-in-law, Sunetra. Just a day before the by-election buzz, a high-level meeting took place at Sharad Pawar’s residence, Silver Oak.
There is significant enthusiasm among the public regarding this by-election. Local residents believe that if the election is uncontested, it will symbolize the political strength of the Sharad Pawar family and their supporters. Conversely, if there is competition, high voter turnout could secure Sunetra Pawar’s victory.
