Jaipur, 18 August (Kiran News): The weakening of monsoon winds in western Rajasthan has led to an increase in daytime temperatures across the region. On Sunday, Jaisalmer recorded the highest temperature at 40.3°C. Barmer saw 38.5°C, while Jodhpur, Phalodi, and Ganganagar recorded 38°C, Bikaner 39.2°C, Jalore 37.4°C, and Jaipur’s mercury rose to 35.2°C. Similarly, Sikar, Alwar, and Chittorgarh also recorded temperatures above 35°C.

Monsoon

According to the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, the monsoon trough is currently passing through Jaisalmer, Udaipur, and Ratlam. Rainfall is expected to continue in many districts of southern RAJASTHAN over the next few days.

A yellow alert for rainfall has been issued for 27 districts in the state for Monday (18 August). On Sunday, light rain occurred in some parts of Jaipur, and showers were also recorded in Ganganagar, Sirohi, Rajsamand, and Kota districts. However, a decline in rainfall in eastern Rajasthan has led to increased heat and humidity.

Weather experts say that the new low-pressure system formed over the Bay of Bengal could bring heavy rain to central and southern parts of the country in the coming days. Its impact may also result in continuous rainfall in Rajasthan.

In the past 24 hours, rainfall recorded includes 10 mm in Sadulshahar (Sri Ganganagar), 12 mm in Kotputli (Jaipur), 15 mm in Khatauli (Kota), 13 mm each in Jhalawar and Sunel, 16 mm in Sangaria (Hanumangarh), 11 mm in Bassi (Chittorgarh), 10 mm in Bijolia (Bhilwara), 18 mm in Shahabad (Baran), 7 mm in Khetri (Jhunjhunu), and 6 mm in Rajladesar (Churu).
