New Delhi, March 12: As the IPL 2026 season approaches, Rishabh Pant is diligently working on his batting skills. Recently, he was spotted training under the guidance of former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh at a small camp in Mumbai. Pant shared a video of his training session on his Instagram account. He is set to represent the Lucknow Super Giants in the 19th season of the Indian Premier League.
Earlier this year, during the ODI and T20 series against New Zealand, Pant suffered a muscle strain while batting. He has faced numerous injury challenges over the past year, resulting in his inconsistent presence in the Indian team. Pant last played an ODI for India on August 7, 2024, and his most recent T20 match was against Sri Lanka on July 28, 2024.
In the video, Pant is seen practicing batting under Yuvraj Singh’s supervision. He appears to be in good rhythm, hitting powerful shots consistently. Yuvraj is observed standing in the umpire’s position, offering advice on Pant’s batting technique. Reports indicate that the training sessions focused on developing both skills and temperament necessary for success in modern white-ball cricket.
A source close to Pant revealed, “Rishabh is putting in a lot of hard work to improve his game and fitness. If you watch the video, you’ll notice he has slimmed down. He was eager to work on his white-ball game, which is why he reached out to Yuvraj and expressed his desire to train under him for three to four days.”
Pant, who was part of the team that won the T20 World Cup 2024 and the ICC Champions Trophy, struggled for runs in IPL 2025. He managed to score only 269 runs at a modest strike rate of 133 across 14 matches. Under his captaincy, the Lucknow Super Giants had a disappointing season, winning only 6 out of 14 matches. Notably, Lucknow acquired Pant for a whopping ₹27 crore during the IPL 2025 auction.
