New Delhi: Rinku Singh is widely regarded as one of the finest finishers in the current Indian cricket setup. After a lengthy absence from the national team, Rinku made a strong comeback during the first T20 match against New Zealand, showcasing his talent once again. Simon Doull, former New Zealand cricketer and respected commentator, has expressed that Rinku has not yet been given enough chances at the international level.
Speaking on JioHotstar, Doull said, “Rinku Singh is one of the best finishers in the world, but he has not received enough opportunities to play T20 matches so far.”
Doull added, “I believe he just needs to bat in the finishing role. Despite his short stature, he is very powerful. His ability to hit the ball hard towards the end of the innings makes it extremely difficult for bowlers to contain him.”
The former Kiwi player further remarked that Rinku Singh should have played around 100 T20 matches for India by now.
In the first T20 match held in Nagpur on Wednesday, Rinku came to bat at number seven. He played an unbeaten innings of 44 runs off 20 balls, including three sixes and four fours, helping India reach a formidable total of 238 and securing a 48-run victory.
Rinku has often rescued India from difficult situations batting lower down the order. In 36 T20 matches, he has scored 594 runs in 26 innings with three half-centuries and a strike rate of 165. His return strengthens India’s squad ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026.
