Patna, May 13: On the second death anniversary of former Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi, tributes were paid in Patna on Tuesday. Prominent leaders, including Bihar Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar, Union Minister Ram Kripal Yadav, BJP MP Radha Mohan Singh, and Bihar BJP President Sanjay Sarawagi, reflected on his political contributions and role in Bihar’s development.
Bihar Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar stated that Sushil Kumar Modi made significant contributions to both Bihar and national politics. He highlighted Modi’s involvement in the 1974 movement led by Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan, where he played a crucial role in steering the movement in a new direction.
Union Minister Ram Kripal Yadav remarked, “Today marks the second death anniversary of Sushil Kumar Modi. We pay heartfelt tributes to him. His contributions to Bihar’s upliftment, development, and reconstruction were immense.”
BJP MP Radha Mohan Singh referred to Sushil Modi as one of the most influential leaders of Bihar BJP. He noted that Modi served as the Deputy Chief Minister for nearly 11 years, working tirelessly to transform Bihar from a ‘Bimaru’ state into a developing region.
Bihar BJP President Sanjay Sarawagi also commemorated Modi, stating that under his adept management, the size of Bihar’s budget consistently grew. He described Modi as a messiah for the poor and backward classes, who worked diligently to strengthen the BJP.
Sanjay Sarawagi mentioned that Sushil Kumar Modi was among the few leaders in Bihar who served in all four legislative bodies: the Assembly, Legislative Council, Lok Sabha, and Rajya Sabha.
BJP leader Mangal Pandey added, “In the development of this new Bihar, he played a vital role alongside Nitish Kumar. He also made significant contributions to strengthening the BJP organization. The vast BJP family we see today in Bihar has learned much from Sushil Kumar Modi. Inspired by his thoughts and the party’s ideology, we are all moving forward.”
It is noteworthy that Sushil Kumar Modi was regarded as one of the senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He served as Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, and was also a Rajya Sabha MP. Associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), he is considered a key figure in strengthening the BJP organization in Bihar.
