Relieve Back Pain with Simple Yoga Poses for Desk Workers

New Delhi, August 28: In today’s world, prolonged sitting at desks, excessive mobile usage, and a lack of physical activity have led to increased stiffness in the back, neck, and shoulders. Incorporating yoga into your daily routine can be highly beneficial. One effective pose is Ardha Chakrasana, a simple yoga asana that involves bending the body backward. Regular and proper practice of this pose can help maintain flexibility in the body.

The Ministry of Ayush recently shared insights on social media platform X, explaining that during Ardha Chakrasana, the upper body gradually leans backward. This action stretches the spine, which can activate the muscles around the spine and help maintain their flexibility. This is why it is considered a useful yoga practice for the back and upper body.

To perform this pose, start by standing straight with a slight gap between your feet. Place both hands on your lower back. Inhale and lift your chest slightly while gently leaning your shoulders back and bending your upper body backward.

Be cautious not to apply sudden pressure on your neck. Lean back as comfortably as possible without forcing your body beyond its limits. Remain in this position, taking deep breaths for a few moments. Then, slowly return to the starting position. If you experience any pain or discomfort, stop the practice immediately.

Incorporating this yoga practice into your daily routine can be particularly beneficial for those who sit for long periods. It may also assist some individuals in managing cervical spondylosis. However, it is advisable to consult a specialist before practicing if you have any health concerns.
