Redmi Turbo 5 Launched Globally with MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Chip

Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi Turbo 5 as part of its new product lineup, marking the first smartphone globally to feature MediaTek’s latest Dimensity 8500 processor. The device offers a balance of powerful specifications and affordability, aiming to deliver a premium experience at a competitive price.

The Redmi Turbo 5 is powered by the Dimensity 8500 chip, built on an advanced 4nm manufacturing process. It is equipped with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 4.1 storage technology for faster data access and improved efficiency. To maintain optimal temperatures during intensive use, the phone incorporates a 3D ice-sealed circulating cold pump cooling system, similar to those found in Xiaomi’s flagship models.

In addition, Xiaomi has introduced a “Rampage Engine” in the device, which dynamically adjusts CPU, GPU, and memory frequencies to ensure stable and smooth performance during heavy workloads.

The smartphone boasts a large 7,560mAh battery that supports fast charging with 100W wired and 27W wireless capabilities, ensuring quick top-ups and extended usage. Its display features a 6.59-inch AMOLED panel with a peak brightness of 3,500 nits, enhanced by Xiaomi’s Super Sunlight Screen technology using M10 luminescent material. Eye protection features are also included to reduce strain during prolonged viewing sessions.

Design-wise, the Redmi Turbo 5 sports a refined look with a metal frame and glass back. It has a clean vertical camera module, narrow bezels, and smooth rounded corners. The phone is available in three colours: Shadow Black, Light Sea Green, and Auspicious Cloud White.

The device offers robust ingress protection with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for water and dust resistance. It also supports kilometre-level wireless connectivity and enhanced compatibility with Apple devices, allowing seamless file transfer and notification sharing across platforms.

On the camera front, the Redmi Turbo 5 focuses on essential features, featuring a 50MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide lens at the rear, and a 20MP front camera for selfies.

Priced starting at 1,999 yuan (approximately $287) for the base 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, the Redmi Turbo 5 is positioned as a strong contender in the mid-range segment. The higher variant is priced at 2,599 yuan (around $375). Sales have already commenced in mainland China.
