RCB Secures Quick Victory Against DC in IPL 2026 Match

New Delhi, April 28: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) triumphed over Delhi Capitals (DC) by 9 wickets in the 39th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, held at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday. Chasing a modest target of 76 runs, RCB completed the task in just 6.3 overs. This victory marks RCB as the second team in IPL history to win a match with the most balls remaining.

RCB finished the match with 81 balls to spare, trailing only Mumbai Indians (MI), who achieved a similar feat in 2008 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by chasing down a 68-run target with 87 balls left.

Batting first after losing the toss, DC collapsed for just 75 runs in 16.3 overs, marking their third-lowest score in IPL history. The team previously recorded a mere 66 runs against MI in 2017 and was bowled out for 67 runs by Kings XI Punjab in the same year.

This match also saw DC achieve the third-lowest all-out score against RCB, with Rajasthan Royals (RR) previously bowled out for 58 runs in 2009 and 59 runs in 2023.

With this victory, RCB has now won 21 IPL matches against DC, placing them jointly second for the most wins against a single team. They are now level with Chennai Super Kings, KKR, Punjab Kings, and MI, all with 21 wins against their respective rivals. MI leads this list with 25 wins against KKR.

DC’s batting woes were evident as they lost 6 wickets for just 8 runs early on. Abhishek Porel (30) and David Miller (19) managed to push the score to 75 runs. Josh Hazlewood was the standout bowler for RCB, claiming 4 wickets, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 3 wickets.

In response, RCB’s chase was led by Devdutt Padikkal, who scored an unbeaten 34 runs off 13 balls, and Virat Kohli, who contributed 23 runs off 15 balls.
