New Delhi, April 28: In an unexpected turn of events, the IPL 2026 match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took place at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium on Monday. Anticipation for a high-scoring game was palpable, but it was the bowlers who stole the show.
The Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium is often considered a batsman’s paradise. Just two days prior, on April 25, DC faced Punjab Kings at the same venue, where they posted an impressive 264 runs. However, Punjab Kings chased down the target in just 18.5 overs, winning by six wickets. During that match, bowlers from both teams appeared helpless and frustrated.
Fast forward to April 27, and the atmosphere at the Arun Jaitley Stadium was drastically different. Despite being known for its batting-friendly conditions, it seemed as though DC’s batsmen struggled to score runs. This included debutant Sahil Parekh and renowned T20 hitters Tristan Stubbs and David Miller, none of whom could find their rhythm.
On Monday evening, while a storm swept through Delhi, it was RCB’s bowlers who created a whirlwind at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Wickets fell like leaves from trees, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar taking three wickets for just five runs in three overs, and Josh Hazlewood claiming four wickets for 12 runs in 3.3 overs. Spin bowlers Suyaash Sharma and Krunal Pandya also contributed, leaving DC’s batsmen bewildered and struggling.
The RCB bowlers unleashed a variety of deliveries—inswingers, outswingers, yorkers, bouncers, and googlies—leaving DC’s batsmen in disarray. At one point, DC found themselves reeling at 6 wickets for just 8 runs. It seemed they were on track for one of the lowest scores in IPL history. However, impact player Abhishek Porel managed to score 30 runs, helping DC reach a total of 75 runs before being bowled out in 16.3 overs. RCB chased down the target effortlessly, scoring 77 runs for the loss of just one wicket in 6.3 overs, winning by nine wickets.
Witnessing RCB’s bowlers dominate on what is typically a batting-friendly pitch at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium was a refreshing surprise.
