
Mumbai, May 18: In an official announcement made on Monday, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has promoted Gunveer Singh to the position of Executive Director (ED). Prior to this promotion, Singh served as the Chief General Manager-in-Charge in the Payments and Settlement Systems Department at RBI.
His appointment as Executive Director is effective from Monday. With this new role, Singh will continue to oversee the Payments and Settlement Systems Department.
The central bank stated, “As of May 18, 2026, Gunveer Singh has been appointed as Executive Director.” The statement further noted, “Before his promotion to ED, Singh was working as the Chief General Manager-in-Charge in the Payments and Settlement Systems Department.”
Gunveer Singh brings over three decades of experience at RBI. He has worked in various sectors, including payment and settlement systems, banking and non-banking supervision, risk monitoring, and government banking.
According to RBI, “Singh has more than three decades of experience in the Reserve Bank. He has worked in payment and settlement systems, banking and non-banking supervision, risk monitoring, government banking, and other areas.”
Additionally, he has served as a payments systems expert at the Central Bank of Oman. Singh is a Chartered Accountant and also holds a qualification as a Cost and Works Accountant.
The central bank confirmed, “As Executive Director, Singh will manage the operations of the Payments and Settlement Systems Department.”
