New Delhi, April 17: During a discussion on women’s reservation in the Lok Sabha, BJP MP Ravi Kishan made headlines with his unique approach. He humorously stated, “Yes, we touch our wives’ feet,” which brought smiles to the faces of fellow members and the presiding officer, Jagdambika Pal.
Kishan began his address by proclaiming, “Today will be written in golden letters, and I support all three bills related to the Constitution. This is a significant step towards realizing the dream of a new India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. It reflects the government’s strong will to turn the impossible into possible.”
He criticized the opposition for labeling women’s reservation as an electoral issue, asserting, “This is not a political issue. The opposition is against women’s reservation.”
Recalling his childhood and days of poverty, Kishan shared, “In my village, there were no facilities like stoves or toilets. I witnessed the pain of women who waited for darkness to relieve themselves. I have seen the anguish in my grandmother’s eyes while she tended to the stove.”
He continued, “When PM Modi came, the pain of women was addressed, and the nation became aware. Today, women are advancing in every field, be it education or sports. So why are these doors being closed to them? Out of a population of 1.4 billion, 700 million are women.”
The atmosphere lightened when Jagdambika Pal jokingly remarked, “Your campaign is run by your wife.” To this, Kishan responded that a significant portion of his votes comes from his wife, stating, “I receive millions of votes; 150,000 of those are thanks to my wife.”
Pal then quipped, “So, do you touch your wife’s feet?” Kishan proudly replied, “Yes, we touch our wives’ feet. Everyone should do so. The opposition should also do this; only then will they become Ravi Kishan, and the world will know them.”
Pal added, “Now your work is done. A message has spread far and wide among women; there is indeed a devoted husband.”
