Mumbai, February 27: Bollywood actor Ravi Dubey has been in the spotlight for his role as Lakshman in the highly anticipated and mega-budget film ‘Ramayana.’ Although his wife had previously hinted at this development, Ravi had remained tight-lipped until now. On Friday, he officially confirmed his involvement in the film and shared the backstory behind it.
He posted a video interview on Instagram, where he recounted a significant and spiritual incident related to his role. “I was locked in for the film ‘Ramayana’ about a year ago, but an event that happened exactly one year prior turned out to be very special for me. At that time, I was in Lucknow for a film shoot,” he explained.
Ravi described how he was filming in a guerrilla style, riding a bike with his heroine seated behind him. As they were cruising down the road, the director called for a ‘cut.’ They parked the bike and waited for the next instructions when Ravi noticed a temple nearby. It was a temple dedicated to Lakshman.
“I was astonished to see the temple because I had never known that Lucknow was referred to as Lakshman Puri in ancient times. It is believed that Lord Ram entrusted this city to his younger brother Lakshman. I was deeply moved by this coincidence. I went inside the temple to pay my respects, where I saw a mythical depiction of Lord Ram, Sita, and Lakshman. I prayed there, stepped outside, and took a photo. At that time, I was portraying a character named Lakhan in the show ‘Lakhan Leela Bhargav,'” he shared.
Ravi described this coincidence as miraculous. “When I got the role of Lakshman in ‘Ramayana,’ I recalled that old image, and it sent chills down my spine because exactly one year after visiting that temple, I received this role; for me, it is a sign from God.”
