Mumbai, May 7: A grand event focused on environmental protection took place in Jaipur on Wednesday. The 31st annual ceremony of the Shri Kalpataru organization featured the ‘Vriksh Mitra Samman 2026’, honoring dedicated activists working to save nature. Actress Raveena Tandon and former Maharashtra minister Sudhir Mungantiwar were present at the ceremony.
Raveena attended the event in a traditional outfit, boosting the spirits of the winners and expressing her commitment to environmental conservation.
After the event, the actress spoke exclusively with a news agency. She expressed her joy in participating in such ceremonies, stating, “I feel happy to be part of these events, as they inspire us all to do something good. It is essential to convey through media and the public how vital trees and nature are for our lives.”
She emphasized that in the race for development, we must not neglect the environment. “It is our moral duty to hand over a healthy and safe planet to future generations. Progress in life and environmental protection must go hand in hand,” she added.
This program was primarily dedicated to those working at the grassroots level to plant and protect trees.
Raveena Tandon is among the popular actresses of the 90s, with songs like ‘Tip Tip Barsa Pani’ and ‘Mast Mast’ still cherished today. She made her digital debut with the web series ‘Aranyak’ (2021) and gained attention for her role as Ramika Sen in ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ (2022). In 2023, she received India’s fourth highest civilian award, the Padma Shri. She will soon be seen alongside actor Suriya in the Tamil film ‘Surya 46’, directed by Venky Atluri.
The film, produced by Sitara Entertainments, also stars Mamita Baiju and Radhika Sarathkumar in key roles, with a release expected later this year. However, further details about the film are yet to be revealed.
