Rashmi Desai Advocates for Greater Respect for Theatre Actors

Mumbai, May 2: Actress Rashmi Desai has openly discussed the hard work and struggles of theatre actors. She emphasized that theatre is often undervalued, where artists put in tremendous effort but do not receive their due recognition in a timely manner.

Desai stated that theatre has taught her invaluable lessons. She described it as a beautiful and educational medium. In a recent interview, she remarked, “Theatre actors work incredibly hard. They often don’t get their rights on time. They enjoy their craft, have a small family, and find happiness in that. They don’t need external validation or to hear what they should or shouldn’t do.”

Rashmi praised the willingness of theatre actors to take risks. She noted that even if mistakes occur or failures arise, their peers are always there to support them, saying that this phase too shall pass. According to her, theatre is the best medium for learning, where every failure leads to a new beginning.

The actress stressed the need for greater respect for theatre artists. She stated, “They deserve more recognition. People should learn more about theatre and its actors. It is a beautiful medium for creative expression.”

Expressing her joy about her theatre experiences, Rashmi lamented that it took her so long to return to the stage. She expressed gratitude to her co-stars and directors, including Vaishali, Pratima, Ayub, Ojas Rawal, and Asif Patel, calling them remarkable and incredibly positive individuals.

Rashmi Desai began her career in 2006 with ‘Raavan.’ She gained widespread popularity with her double role in ‘Pari Hoon Main’ and her role in ‘Uttaran.’ She has also participated in reality shows such as ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa,’ ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi,’ and ‘Nach Baliye.’ Her cameo in Salman Khan’s film ‘Dabangg 2’ is also fondly remembered.
