New Delhi, February 16: Congress leader Rashid Alvi has emphasized the need to address the discontent of senior party member Mani Shankar Aiyar, who recently stated that Pinarayi Vijayan will again become the Chief Minister of Kerala. Alvi remarked that as a senior leader, Aiyar’s concerns should be acknowledged and resolved within the party.

In an interview in New Delhi, Alvi stated that it is the responsibility of Congress leadership to engage all senior members actively. “We aim to strengthen the Congress party. If senior members are unhappy, we must find a way to appease them and assign them responsibilities,” he said. Alvi mentioned that he had not heard Aiyar’s specific comments but recognized Aiyar’s long-standing contributions to the party.

Regarding Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge’s remarks about the RSS, Alvi noted that while he refrains from using such language, he firmly believes that the RSS does not contribute to India’s unity.

On Karti Chidambaram’s comments about Sanatan Dharma, Alvi asserted that this belief system does not belong solely to the BJP. He emphasized that both South and North Indian Hindu communities adhere to Sanatan Dharma and trust in its principles. “The BJP’s misunderstanding is that they can continue to politicize Sanatan Dharma and seek votes in its name,” he stated, adding that people in the South do not weaponize religion for political gain.

Addressing the controversy surrounding Tipu Sultan, Alvi questioned the objection to displaying his image, noting that he fought bravely against the British. “If someone chooses to hang his picture in their office, there should be no objection,” he remarked.

In response to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments on Rahul Gandhi, Alvi defended Gandhi, asserting that every word he speaks is valid. He criticized the BJP for misleading the public, particularly regarding trade deals with the U.S. “If goods from America are available at lower prices in India, why would people buy from their farmers?” he asked.

Finally, regarding Dhirendra Shastri’s comments on the India-Pakistan match, Alvi stated he was unfamiliar with Shastri but acknowledged that every citizen has their own opinion.
