Mumbai, May 2: On the death anniversary of Sarabjit Singh, actor Randeep Hooda shared an emotional tribute on Instagram. He honored Sarabjit’s courage and the struggles faced by his family through a heartfelt note.
Hooda expressed, “Sarabjit’s story transformed my entire life and perspective. What began as preparation for a film gradually became a profound and personal experience for me.”
While portraying Sarabjit, he felt the pain, silence, and resilience that Sarabjit endured for years.
In his post, Hooda also remembered Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur and wife Sukhpreet. He noted, “These two women fought tirelessly for Sarabjit’s justice. Although they are no longer with us, their bravery will always serve as an example.”
Hooda expressed satisfaction, stating, “Sarabjit, your memories live on through your daughters Swapandeep and Poonam, who are now leading a peaceful life with their families. There is a quiet solace that every family enduring such pain deserves.”
He emphasized that after experiencing such suffering, every family should find peace.
Paying tribute to Sarabjit, Hooda remarked, “Years have passed, but your story remains with me. Some characters fade with the film, but you never left. I remember you today with respect and a heavy heart. You will always be remembered. ‘Om Shanti.’”
In the 2016 film ‘Sarabjit,’ Randeep Hooda played the lead role of Sarabjit Singh, based on the true story of an Indian farmer imprisoned in Pakistan. Dalbir Kaur, who fought for her brother’s release, was deeply impressed by Hooda’s performance and loved him as if he were her real brother.
After Dalbir Kaur’s passing in June 2022, Hooda traveled from Mumbai to Punjab to attend her last rites.
